Now We Are Six | 2 Friends, 2 Families | Milwaukee Area Family Photography

Now We Are Six

a.a. milne

When I was one,
I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.
When I was four,
I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I’m as clever as clever.
So I think I’ll be six
now and forever.

Rebecca & Erin are great friends, so it made perfect sense that they both booked family sessions on the same day during my recent visit to Milwaukee. It was a hot summer Sunday in July. The sun was shining and it was one of those perfect summer days that you hoped would last forever. I’ve had the pleasure of watching their families grow from babies to toddlers to big kids. Great friends, great parents, great kids. Now We Are Six by a.a. milne is one of my favorite all time poems. For me, it captures the essence of childhood. Thank you Rebecca & Erin for allowing me to capture and document your growing families. It’s an honor and a pleasure.

Rebecca and her husband Mike just welcomed bouncing baby boy number 4 to their clan. I am pretty certain there is either a baseball team or rock band in their future. (Or maybe both!) I loved hanging out with them, as always!

Erin is the masterful talent behind THE dress for Operation Love Lola. Be sure to check out her work at Marion Hill Custom Sewing. I’m telling you, she’s amazing. And fast. Holy cow is she fast. Not only did she whip up Lola’s dress in no time, she also made the dress and romper for her own daughters for our photoshoot. I’m not sure how she manages it all, but she does. I had so much fun with her littles!

“And pray, who are you?”
Said the Violet blue
To the Bee, with surprise,
At his wonderful size,
In her eyeglass of dew.
“I, madam,” quoth he,
“Am a publican Bee,
Collecting the tax
Of honey and wax.
Have you nothing for me?”
