Meet Kate. She is a girl with a tuba.
And vintage cowboy boots How badass is that?

Kate’s mom Jackie and I went to college together.
How fun it was to reminisce about our own college days as she prepares her daughter to head off to college next fall. We laughed and told stories and may have left out a few details about the (ahem) outing the night before our graduation.

We did Kate’s senior portraits on a recent visit home at the Milwaukee VA grounds. With a backdrop of cream city brick and historic buildings, we spent a quiet Sunday morning capturing this sweet girl as she was getting ready to head into her senior year.

I don’t know about you, but when I think of a girl who plays the tuba, I can’t help but think of a girl who absolutely MUST posses an infinite amount of confidence. It’s a glass ceiling breaking move, as the tuba has largely been a male dominated instrument. So to see a girl with a tuba is fierce. Kate doesn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful instrument and I’m so glad she brought it with her to her senior session!

And can we talk about the cowboy boots? Those boots belonged to Jackie when she was in college. It’s only fitting that Kate should take rightful ownership and rock wearing those bad boys.
